Celtics History : |
|
Just like their current roster has many exciting players,
Boston Celtics history has seen a number of exciting
players and coaches make their NBA careers in Boston. It
all began with Coach Red Auerbach in the 50s and 60s.
He coached Bill Russell, who anchored the Boston Celtics
to their streak of eight straight NBA titles from 1959
to 1966. |
 |
In the late 70s, Auerbach was responsible for putting
together what many think of as the best frontcourt in
NBA history when Larry Bird, Kevin McHale, and Robert
Parish played together for the Boston Celtics. Bird
began his illustrious career with the Boston Celtics and
ended it the same way. He was a 12-time NBA All Star and
led the Boston Celtics to 13 straight playoff
appearances in his career. |
|
McHale was a seven-time NBA All Star who
revolutionized pivot play on the post.
Parish has
played in more games than any other player in NBA history.
John Havlicek leads the Boston Celtics in a number of
categories, including Games Played, Field Goals Made, and
Points. All of these Boston Celtics greats and more are
immortalized in the Basketball Hall Of Fame and have their
numbers retired to the rafters at TD Banknorth Garden. In
addition, the Boston Celtics have more wins than any
other NBA team. |
